What To Wear For... A Lunch Date

Daytime dates are tough to dress
for. Your usual date attire is probably a cocktail dress and heels, but that
might look a little strange chatting at the café table outside of Starbucks. Here
are a few simple rules to follow in making your lunch date attire appropriate,
fashionable and flirty:
- Be trendy. Lunch dates are one of the few times you’ll be able to wear more casual
clothes, and trendy fashions are the flirtiest kind. Dark wash jeans are
hot right now – I recommend DKNY Soho jeans. They’re long, straight and
boot cut, and they slim any leg instantly. Pair them with a long tunic top.
- Be girly. Feminine clothes are very flirtatious, and they say, “I’m a woman! Treat
me like one!” Lace is very fashionable right now, as well as ribbon
accents and peep-toe heels. A peasant style sundress will play up your
femininity while still looking casual.
- Drop the black! While black is very slimming and chic, it’s too formal for daytime wear. Use
more colors; it’s spring, so now is a great time for pastels and brights.
- Go natural. If your hair and makeup are too polished, you’ll give off a high
maintenance vibe. Instead, keep hair natural, either worn down or in a
breezy ponytail. If you hate your hair’s natural texture, either go stick
straight with a flat iron or curl just the ends and layers. Too many curls
will look too done up. As well, dark makeup should be avoided; stick to
black mascara, concealer, gloss, and highlighter to bring out the beauty
of your skin.
These simple guidelines will keep
your daytime lunch date comfortable and without expectations. Plus, your
prospective guy will appreciate a girl who can let her hair down (literally)!
Enjoy!
