Agyness Deyn is the model of the minute everyone adores, designer and individual alike. Now Agyness has landed a spot on the cover of Time Magazine’s Style and Design issue. There’s even a handbag, T-shirt, and Zara mannequin created in her honor! (Zara created a mannequin in the image of 60s supermodel Twiggy as well – not the first similarity drawn between the two models.) So why does this Burberry model get so much play from the biggest fashion houses in the world? The major “it” factor this model possesses is her unique look; this is the reason many of the most famous models have separated from the pack and become fashion icons. Take a look at those who’ve gone before her:
What elements could add 22 year old Agyness to this prestigious group? Her hair, for one thing. Agyness sports a boyish bleach blonde crop, which is a very haute couture-friendly hairstyle. It stands out in the sea of caramel highlighted Gisele-esque tresses and harkens back to the 80s, the current decade of choice for fashion designers. She contrasts her bright locks with thick dark eyebrows reminiscent of 60s icons like Twiggy, and the combination gives her a Billy Idol-style rock edge. Finally, her name is memorable and hard to spell, which sets her apart from the mass of Jennifers and Jessicas designers have to choose from. Prepare to see more of this beautiful and original model, because Agyness Deyn isn’t checking out of fashion anytime soon.
